ASOS to launch a weekly magazine app.

The free app, called Fashion Up, will only be available for iPhone and iPod Touch devices initially. An Android app is planned for later this year.

Fashion Up’s content will include fashion trends, celebrity style features, street style, and fashion and beauty how-to guides as well as exclusive music content.

It will available globally and created by the same team that puts together the monthly Asos print magazine given to all customers free of charge.

Layout for the mobile magazine pages will be specifically designed for smaller screens and it will include click to buy functionality so that fans can buy products directly from the pages.

I think this is a great idea, as it keeps the consumer engaged through another medium of technology and also allows them to link over to social media, posting article links and sharing outfits/clothing with their network.

It will also be interesting to see the longevity of this app as the Mens clothing magazine went 2 issues before going dark last August - something I was really excited about until nothing new came along.

Weekly content will be delivered every Monday, so that’s one thing to look forward to over the weekend (obviously you already look forward to work!).
